COVID-19 Update

Re: COVID-19 Update 11/18/2020

Here are a few videos of the new aerosol reducing systems that the office is utilizing. These extra-oral vacuum systems are also used in conjunction with our suction mirrors and air purifiers to help reduce aerosols.

To All of our Patients,

We are happy to announce that we are able to reopen based on recommendation's from the American Dental Association, The Maine Centers for Disease Control, Governor Mills, and the Maine Dental Association. As we adjust our schedules and office flow to support recommendations by the CDC, we ask for your patience and understanding as we move through different phases of reopening.

We wanted to take a moment to check-in with all of you.  We hope this letter finds you and your family in good health. Our community has been through a lot over the last few months and we will continue to all be in this together.  Your health remains our highest concern. Infection Control has always been a top priority for our practice as you may have seen during your visits to our office. Our infection control processes are made so that when you receive care, it is both safe and comfortable.  We want to tell you about the infection control procedures we follow in our practice to keep patients and team safe.

Our office follows infection control recommendations made by the American Dental Association (ADA), the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). We follow the activities of these agencies so that we are up-to-date on any new rulings or guidance that may be issued.  We do this to make sure that our infection control procedures are current and adhere to each agencies’ recommendations for safety.

You may see some changes when it is time for your next appointment.  We have designed what we feel to be the safest plan possible for our patients and team.

For example:

∙ Our office hours have been changed to 7am-3pm M-TH September - May and 7am - 2:30pm M-Th June - August

∙ Our office will communicate with you before your appointment to ask some screening questions.  You’ll be asked those same questions again when you are in the office.

∙ Please reschedule if you are feeling ill, have any symptoms of COVD-19, have been in contact with a COVID-19 positive patient, or have traveled (relevant to your location) in the past 14 days.

∙ You will be asked to call us once you arrive. We ask that you wait in your car until we are ready for you to come in. We will let you know when we are ready for you.

∙ You will be asked to wear a mask when you enter the building and keep it on until your dental provider asks you to remove it.

∙ Your temperature will be taken and recorded before you are brought back into the treatment area.

∙ Please come into the office alone unless you are accompanying a minor child or a helping another adult needing assistance.

∙ Please leave any unnecessary belongings in your vehicle.

∙ We have hand sanitizer that we will ask you to use when you enter the office.  You will find some in the reception area and other places in the office for you to use as needed.

∙ You may see that our waiting room will no longer offer magazines, children’s toys and so forth, since those items are difficult to disinfect.

∙ Appointments will be managed to allow for social distancing between patients.  That might mean that you are offered fewer options for scheduling your appointment.

∙ We will do our best to allow greater time between patients to reduce waiting times for you, as well as to reduce the number of patients in the reception area at any one time.

∙ We will all have to continue to be flexible and take care of ourselves and one another inside and outside of the dental office.

∙ If you or anyone in your immediate family exhibits symptoms of Coronavirus within fourteen days after of your dental visit, please call us immediately.

We also know that everyone has a different level of comfort on returning to the dental office, which we respect.  It is of the utmost importance that you feel safe and ready to return to our office.

Our office and team may look a little different to you. There will be plexiglass at the checkin/out area. In addition to our infection control procedures and our whole office Surgically Clean Air Purification system, which we have had in place for several years, we have added additional True HEPA air purification systems in all treatment areas. We have also added aerosol reducing evacuation systems to the chairside in each operatory to protect you even further.

Our staff will be wearing surgical caps, gowns, face shields, and respirator masks when we perform aerosol generating procedures. Trust that we are smiling at you under all of that PPE! Since we will be wearing more layers, the office may be kept at a slightly cooler temperature. Make sure to bring a light jacket or sweater if you get chilly easily. Keeping you safe is most important but we’d also like you to be comfortable as well.

We look forward to seeing you again and are happy to answer any questions you may have about the steps we take to keep you, and every patient, safe in our practice. Please feel free to reach out to us with any questions and/or concerns. We can be reached at (207)947-6239 call or text, [email protected], or on Facebook.

Thank you for being our patient.  We value your trust and loyalty and look forward to welcoming back our patients, neighbors, and friends.

Sincerely,

Dr Rob, Dr. Robby and Team, Denise, Barb, Lori, Meghan, Brandy, Karen, Casey, Mary, Lynn & Emily
